TK BAND IS BACK ON THE FIELD!
(though the photo below shows them in the hall...but watever)

Deyi and Bowen Band were doing their thing at the SYF Opening Ceremony yesterday at the Indoor Stadium and perhaps wondering "Hey where's TK Band?"

TK somehow got over April and is now preparing for outdoor competition again. Another kind of competition. An international one! Whee! I'm not telling where.

For the ex members of the band, you'll be suprise to see TK Band marching crab-like. VERY DCI. SOOO NOT TK BAND. But I have to say, they looked quite ok doing DCI. Lol....

This first video is them practising and seriously it doesnt look good.

In this next video, they were slightly better. Dressing is out but don't worry band, u have another month to improve. Can do it lah...no problem. =p But still it's very odd watching TK march like that. Seriously odd...

ANYWAY...

To Ex TK members, do come down for...

TK Band Alumni Homecoming and
Preview on 26 July.
Venue: TK
(of course)
Time: 4PM

It's gonna be a longer performance for this international competition. It's freaking 10mins. Not the usual 8 mins which they do for the SYF Display Band. I'll put the video on youtube, though the quality is not that good and its not center view. The video is private, so if u still wanna see it, do contact me yeah? =)

For now, I wish them all the best! Jiayou!

Finally got my lappy back! My lappy died on me like a week ago?

Repair centre first called me to say that they will be replacing my motherboard. Everything including labour would cost $495.

Then, several days later, they called again and said my lappy cannot function and they need to replace my hard disk. I was like "damn..everything's gonna be GONE" So new cost...

$719.21

Thank God for Harvey Norman's extended warranty.

And no, I suppose i got rejected from EA Games. DAMNIT...

Oh well, back to sending resumes!

There are 2 things I wish to list down today...

#1: I was Molested

I dunno whether it should be called a slight molest. I dunno if there is a term for slight molestation but let's just call it molest.

Happened when I was sitting in the bus with this guy 2 days ago.

I felt his fingers brushing my thighs, and at first I thought it was just accidental. So I wasn't bothered.

Then, I got slightly irritated, so I moved my legs away from him. But somehow, his fingers manage to find its way to my thighs again. So, i just turned and looked at him and gave a "WTH" expression. He looked back at me with an innocent face.

The bus was packed and I realised that the only reason why he dared to do watever he was doing was because the bag that I placed on my lap hid his hands underneath. So I decided to push away my bag such that it exposed his hand. And immediately, he moved his hand away and placed it back on the plastic bags he carried.

When I finally understood what was happening, i was furious. I didnt know whether to tell the bus driver or not, cuz I was thinking "is he really molesting me or is it my imagination?" So many things running thru my head, but in the end there was no time to do anything cuz my bus stop was coming.

I did manage to take photos of him though it isnt clear. DAMNIT.

Dunno whether he's looking away cuz he knows I'm taking his pic or wat...URGH BLOODY PERVERT.

Moving on to brighter things in life...

#2: I got my first phone interview yesterday

It happened when I was taking my afternoon nap at around 3pm. I heard my handphone ringing. I see some unknown number and the first thing on my mind was, "oooo...is this my first call from a company?"

Still in a sleepy, dazed mood, i answered,"Helloo..?"

"Hi my name is xxxx, I'm calling from Electronic Arts (EA Games) Singapore. I see that you...."

Immediately I woke up and was WIDE AWAKE. (First interview mistake, not taking note of the name of the person on the line)

EA GAMES!?!? NO SHIT...I didn't expect any call from them cuz I'm just a fresh graduate.

She asked me typical questions like, "So why EA? Do u love games? Wat characteristics makes u suited for this position? What do u know abt EA and their competitors? "

She didnt comment on any of my answers. She simply said "ok" and moved on to her next question. So that made me worried like...Did I give silly answers till she cant even comment on it?

So at the end of the nerve-wrecking interview she said,"I'll send ur resume to my senior and decide which position is more suited for you and will get back to you around this week"

Btw, I'm in the running for either PR or Community and Promotions Manager.

SO i'm waiting for the next call. Everyone reading this pls cross ur fingers n pray I get the call.

PLEASE PLEASE PLEASE
...lol

But i promise not to be disappointed if I don't hear from them anymore...Hee.. =)

I mean, it's a huge company and I'll understand why they would reject me. But I dunno, I'm hoping for a miracle.

I have always been excited about the Grand Prix Night Race in Singapore but it has never occured to me what people overseas thought of it. So I did a Google search...

I came across a forum with this silly post:
"...Having a race in freezing cold dark isnt going to create any more drama or overtaking!"

Someone else retorted with this post:
"Singapore is in the equatorial region, it would be actually nicer for the fans to see a night race! there is no such thing as freezing cold in that part of the world...."

You got that right. There is no such thing as freezing cold except maybe during the monsoon season. Hee...So please if you're coming down for the race, please don't come in winter clothes or u'll be sweating like a pig.

Then, I headed on to another entry about the race and saw this comment:
"So China is getting another race venue?"

DUDE...get your facts right. We are not and will never be part of freaking China. Hahahaha!! We're located in SOUTH EAST ASIA AT THE TIP OF MALAYSIA. It's as silly as assuming Canada is one of the states of America. Or Spain is part of the UK.

I remember Jocelyn was in Australia and a local asked where she's from. Jocelyn of course said Singapore and the reply was, "Oh, which part of China is that?" And my gosh, the distance between Australia and Singapore isn't THAT far, I would expect at least Aussies know where Singapore is.

Maybe some people are ignorant or Singapore has misrepresented herself. Maybe our tourism campaigns depicted Singapore like its a state in China. Who knows?

Anonymous Anugerah Band Comment
PLEASE READ THIS

I got this comment on my entry about Anugerah Band. Here's the comment:

Anonymous said...

Hai there.. I think you don't really know about rock. So don't just anyhow judge. All the singapore band is talented.

My reply:

Hi back at ya! It would be really nice if you were to drop me your name or some screen name?

So let's see, you have made some assumption that I "don't really know about rock". Well, I have to admit that there is a whole lot about rock music that I do not know of but I daresay my current knowledge of the genre can be considered credible. I don't intend to state ALL that I know cause I believe there is no need for that.

In fact, why don't YOU tell ME what you really know about rock.

Next, you said, "All the Singapore band is talented". I strongly disagree. The correct statement would have been, "SOME Singaporean bands are talented".

You can catch some of them at Baybeats '08 this August at the Esplanade. I've watched Baybeats over the years and some of the bands are really good. And most or ALL of them are BORN AND BRED IN SINGAPORE.

I've listened to bands like Incubus, Mars Volta, Saosin, Velvet Revolver, Symphony X, Dream Theater, Liquid Tension Experiment (Dream Theater's side band) and many many more and they have raised my standard of a good band to quite a high level ESPECIALLY DREAM THEATER. I dont know, but I am a big fan of Dream Theater. DON'T YOU JUST LOVE WATCHING MIKE PORTNOY HIT THOSE DRUMS!?!? I saw him at Fort Canning when they were here in Singapore for a 1 night show earlier this year.

That's a video of him playing to one of my favourite DM songs, "As I am". AMAZING...

Ok Mr/Ms Anonymous, to cheer you up abit, I have to say that, the following bands from Anugerah,

Trabo

Putra

Rancour

have potential.

Oh and one of the guitarist from Helven, Romey, recently won "Asian Best Guitarist" in some recent competition. Yes, he is a superb guitarist but sadly, he is better off alone than with his band who are not that fantastic. Oh and Irfan the rhythmist, who is no longer in the band, happens to be my boyfriend's friend.
On second thought, I think Helven is good lah, just that they have a sucky singer.

To further support my argument (I sound like I'm doing a report), there was this particular judge who is M. Nasir's brother. He has long hair. Well, there are 2 judges with long hair, the older one. Not the younger cina looking one. Anyway, he commented that all the bands in Anugerah should focus on creating good music cuz that is what this competition is about. He added on to say that it is not about showing off your gimmicks (like playing the guitar upside down). He wanted them to cut back on all that rubbish and focus on the MUSIC. So when he said that I'm really happy cuz that is what I've been tryin to say all this while!

Oh and he also commented on Helven,"Aper dah jadi ngan korang? Eeerr..tadi tu kalau aku tutup mata ah..aku rasa macam dekat majlis org kahwin tau"

Gosh...I mean seriously. Why am I tryin so hard to prove whatever I am proving to you?

THIS IS MY BLOG. MY PERSPECTIVE. LIVE WITH IT.

You can't escape...

US blogger released on bail in Singapore

AFP - Friday, June 6

SINGAPORE (AFP) - - A US-based blogger who allegedly accused a Singapore judge of "prostituting herself" was released on bail Thursday and had his passport confiscated.

A judge ordered Gopalan Nair, a former Singapore lawyer who is now a US citizen, to be released on 5,000 dollars bail (3,676 US) after more than four days in custody.

A prosecutor told the court there was no need for him to be detained while further investigations were carried out.

Nair, 58, who declined comment to reporters, is due back in court for another hearing next Thursday.

He was arrested in the city-state on Saturday and charged Monday with insulting a public servant, his lawyer Chia Ti Lik earlier told AFP.

According to a court document, Nair is charged with insulting Justice Belinda Ang Saw Ean last week by sending an email which said she "was throughout prostituting herself during the entire proceedings, by being nothing more than an employee of Mr Lee Kuan Yew and his son and carrying out their orders".

Chia said the comments essentially repeated those Nair made in a recent blog about a defamation case filed by Singapore's leaders against an opposition party and its members.

In the blog, Nair strongly criticised a three-day legal hearing last week at which Singapore founding father Lee Kuan Yew and his son, Prime Minister Lee Hsien Loong, testified.

The US-based press freedom watchdog Committee to Protect Journalists (CPJ) expressed concern about Nair's case.

"Singapore's detention of Gopalan Nair for public comments about such a highly politicised case is completely unwarranted," said CPJ Asia Programme Coordinator Bob Dietz on the group's website.

"Freedom to criticise the judiciary is fundamental to a modern society. This case illustrates the Singapore government's ongoing commitment to silencing opposition voices both in print and online."

Lee Kuan Yew has dismissed the city-state's ranking near the bottom of a global press freedom index, saying Singaporeans are free to read whatever they want.

During his testimony last week, Lee Kuan Yew justified the country's strict political controls and pointed to Singapore's economic success as the "acid test" of his legacy.

On Saturday Nair had taunted authorities in a post on his blog, saying he was in Singapore at a particular hotel, and gave his phone number.

"I am now within your jurisdiction... What are you going to do about it?" wrote Nair, a former Workers' Party candidate for parliament.

He is charged with insulting a public servant, which on conviction carries a maximum fine of 5,000 dollars (3,660 US) or one year in prison.

Nair's lawyer told reporters outside court that he expects a fresh charge to be laid against his client, without elaborating.

If you guys didn't see this yesterday, cuz you were still sleeping like a log like myself, den you would have probably missed this BEAUTIFUL rainbow. Happened at around 8:30am in the morning, South-West of Singapore. Ansar sent me that photo through MMS. I don't wake up THAT early nowadays. I've seen several rainbows but this has gotta be the biggest and clearest? The one below is the I saw outside my window last year..See, it wasn't that clear.

Oh, was heading back from the supermarket (I'm ALWAYS at the supermarket with my mum), I saw this tattoo on some chick.

I think that is the most SADDEST looking tattoo ever. I'll be sooo miserable if I had a tattoo like that.

With regards to my previous post.

I wrote about the SPG thing. YES i did.

My intention was plain and simple.

It was meant to be a joke.

And when I wrote it, I pictured my friends, Zatty and Liyana laughing about it.

I SWEAR i was picturing the two of you laughing at that post.

God, I didn't meant for it to turn out sour.

You shouldn't feel insulted!

It's sooooooooooooooooooo wasn't targeted at you girls.

The point I'm saying is...

If those Malay guys don't want us, then in TYRA BANKS style..

SO WHAT?!?!

And I'm not saying ALL Malay boys hate us. Just those SHALLOW ones. U noe...

Girls, you are one of my best-est friends, and I'll never do anything to hurt the both of you.

Hope u forgive me.
