(sorry Wahidah, I guess I caught the F1 fever as well =P)
For someone who hasn't seen an Formula 1 race live before....
It was EAR PIERCING.
The sound itself gave me an adrenaline rush. Wooo!!!
An awesome spectacle really...
But only for a while before it became a boring parade of fast cars.
Nevertheless it was exciting!! In just two sentences, I have become contradicting.
Comments by audiences around the world said that it was like watching a game on Sony Playsation. With the beautiful landscape and driving under a tunnel below the spectators. In terms of scenery, everyone thought it was AMAZING. =)
But the drivers were complaining about the roads being VERY bumpy. Plus, they complained about the pit entry and exit being too strange and dangerous.
Felipe Massa, Ferrari (3rd, +0.139s) said:
The entry and exit to the pit lane could turn out to be a bit critical in the race. In general, the track surface has a lot of grip but in some points there are some bumps that are a bit of a pain."
Nico Rosberg, Williams (5th, +0.510s) said:
As far as the track is concerned, it is a lot of fun to drive but it is however incredibly bumpy, so much so you could even get a headache!"
Kimi Raikkonen, Ferrari (7th, +0.926s) said: "The visibility is great and you don't really feel you are driving at night with all the lights on the track. In general I like the track although some parts are too bumpy. The entry and exit to the pit lane are pretty difficult and we will have to be very careful."
David Coulthard, Red Bull (15th, +1.986s) said: “It’s like the cobbled streets of Paris and very unforgiving, I think there will be a lot of incidents during the race. Unlike Valencia, which was a smooth circuit with very good kerbs, the kerbs here are very aggressive, especially at Turn 10.
A particular driver, said he felt like his F1 car was a bunny, hopping and bouncing around all over the place because of the bumps.
But on the other hand....
Lewis Hamilton, McLaren (2nd, +0.098s) said: "Through certain corners there was lots of bottoming, and when you hit a bump it would throw the car around quite a bit - but it’s an amazing venue."
Nico Rosberg, Williams (5th, +0.510s) said: “In general I think we can be quite happy with our performance today. We have started well and I feel quite confident that we can have a good weekend. (...) But, importantly, the track is safe and the visibility under the lights is absolutely fine. The organisers have done an amazing job and I think everybody will have a great weekend.”
Jenson Button, Honda (8th, +1.247s) said: "It's been a very strange day of testing tonight! You would expect the conditions to be cooler but this has to be one of the hottest Fridays that we've ever had and it's just so humid. The circuit is interesting to drive and it's very bumpy which adds to the excitement as the bumps bounce the car all over the place."
Adrian Sutil, Force India (20th, +2.657s) said: "It's a really beautiful circuit here and a great place to visit."
Nick Heidfeld, BMW Sauber (16th, +2.106s) said: "The track is a lot of fun. It is much more of a street circuit than the new track in Valencia and is more challenging."
So, Singapore race track is challenging and a pain in the ass. But at the same time FUN!
And lastly,
Lewis Hamilton, McLaren (2nd, +0.098s) said:
"It’s a very physical circuit - more than I expected, actually. You need to put a lot of work into the car to get a good lap - I’d say it requires double the energy of Monaco over a single lap. One lap around here is like two laps of Monaco!"
For now, it's photo time!!

How many times do u get to see a freaking F1 car zooming past Supreme Court?
Nick Heidfeld, BMW Sauber, Singapore GP, Marina Bay
Felipe Massa, Ferrari, Singapore GP, Marina Bay
Lewis Hamilton, Singapore GP, Marina Bay
Kimi Raikkonen, Ferrari, Singapore GP, Marina Bay
Kimi Raikkonen, Ferarri, Singapore GP, Marina Bay
Sad eh?
Lewis Hamilton, McLaren Mercedes, Singapore GP, Marina Bay
His left front tyre is in the air! Bumpy bumpy roads...
OTHER SINGAPORE F1 STUFF...
This was what they meant by bouncing all over the place
I honestly feel that Singapore's Grand Prix trophy is damn ugly
You can't blame an F1 driver if he wants his trishaw to go faster...
That's Toro Rosso's Sebastien Vettel pushing the trishaw
I saw this butterfly! I think the cars slammed it and the wings broke =(
Next, it's video time!!
It was like a ghost. Too fast for my pathetic phone camera.
Only got the tail end...
GOT THE FULL CAR!
God...these photos are such a laugh...
But yes....I was THAT close to those freaking cars. My ears were crying.
Here I was, at the overhead bridge linking Marina Square to Suntec Convention.
The bridge vibrated like crazy everytime the car passed!! Scary shit...
Me: I knew you were Irish before you said you were Irish
Gerry: Really? You knew?
Me: Yeah...just from the way you spoke, I knew you had to be Irish
Gerry: How come?
Me: Cuz I watched Harry Potter
Gerry: Harry Potter!?!
Me: Yeah! There was an Irish guy
Gerry: Oh yeah..there was that Irish bloke. But Harry Potter!?! You've insulted me Faizah. I'm never gonna speak to you again. You can go for meetings alone!!
I mean, you see the freaking screen for 9 hours in the office, you tink I wanna look at Windows again when I get home?
N + O = NO
And the Singapore Science Challenge thing is SO GAY. I wasted 10 mins of my life watching that show meant for freakazoids. At first, my impression was like "WOAH...A show filled with smartasses" But when I watched it, I kept laughing.
FIRSTLY, your presentation is TIMED.
So, what happens? Every group tried to squeeze their half an hour presentation to about 10 mins
So how!? TALK FASTER.
I couldnt catch wth they were saying man!!! It was like watching a video on fast forward. So hilarious!!! Haiz...they made my night...
Haiz....I think I can finish it in ONE DAY...but I dun wanna finish it in one day!!!
It's soo addictive, it pains to even pause for this blog entry. LOL...SO DRAMA
But really, I have a crush with this book. AND THANK GOD IT'S A SERIES. So after I finish this, i still have 3 more books in this series to finish.
Twilight is gonna be a MAJOR MOTION PICTURE. AND I CANT WAIT FOR IT!!! But I dont wanna be too excited cuz movies tend to disappoint. Still, I am anticipating it!!
What is this book about?
A human girl....DANGEROUSLY IN LOVE....with an enchanting vampire boy.
And i really mean DANGEROUS...
Haiz....so bittersweet....I'll leave with a quote from the book...Or rather quote(S)
"About three things I was absolutely positive.
First, Edward was a vampire.
Second, there was a part of him - and I didnt know how dominant that part might be - that thirsted for my blood.
And third, I was unconditionally and irrevocably in love with him."
"So what you're saying is, I'm your brand of heroin?" I teased, trying to lighten the mood.
[Edward] smiled swiftly, seeming to appreciate my effort.
I'm in love with that black blackberry infront of me right now...DANG
Well anyway..work has been fine. To me, it was definitely much better than my previous work place. I'm just too lazy to go into the details why. But yeah...loads of training. Some are scary - presentations (well not really...i just got used to it cuz we have been presenting quite a lot this week).
But today I had to do my first PRACTICE cold call sales pitch infront of my boss. God, i was so dreading it this morning cuz the thought of doing a fake/practice cold call infront of him is soo embarassing. But everything is over...and I did ok! Oh wait....i remembered him saying that we will be doing more later on. Bother...
But really...the way he taught us how to pitch was AWESOME. I learnt so much from him. So that's another thing I like about this company u see....they actually bother to go into in-depth training. They REALLY want u to be good.
Yeah I got loads of time to blog now cuz its LUNCH TIME. Surrounded by soo many restaurants....I'm right above a seafood restaurant. The indian restaurant looks appealing. K NO MORE TALK ABOUT FOOD.
This is what my office looks like at 9am...haha...my office room is on the left (the sales team). The office on the right is the search team filled with Singaporeans. In the background you have the reception. The second floor is mostly the board rooms and meeting rooms. Where I'm taking the photo is actually a sitting area and I was on a couch.
And this is the window view from our office. You see Fullerton Hotel in the background. Actually u can see the Singapore Flyer as well but it's not captured here. Quite pretty...
This is the pantry where u can make your coffee and tea... But damnit, I can't taste any for now. It's Ramadhan!!!!
Or would you like chilled drinks instead? Look at those perrier bottles waiting to be opened by me. AND THE STRAWBERRY YOGURT! Haiz...(oops I am sorry if u'r reading this and u'r fasting. I'm fasting too...) See...that's the sitting area I'm talking about (left of fridge)
So i guess the office is very hospitable and cosy.
I got a brand new HP laptop with thumbprint recognition which we dont use. Lol...I already have my email and phone extension number and fax number! I already feel like I belong...hahaha!
More updates about my workplace tomorrow or some other day this week. =)
