U noe..2 days ago...my mum brought out this news that she received a letter from Spain. I dun have any relatives there or watever. Instead, it was a lottery letter from El Gordo Primitiva Spanish Lottery...some international lottery company. My mum didn't join this lottery. The letter states that some company called Sandy Coast Marketing Co. added her name together with 91,000 names frm arnd the world in tat lottery. And guess wat? My mum won third prize! So, my mum has "been approved for a winning payment of EU350,500.00Cents (THREE HUNDRED AND FIFTY THOUSAND EUROS) Equivalent to U.S DOLLARS" sorry..i dun have the euro character =S. Tat's like arnd S$700,000.00 A HUGE sum of money. Exciting isn't it? Imagine all the endless shopping sprees...buying a brand new flat screen computer with a huge memory...an X BOX Limited Edition maybe...a flat-screen TV...new friends...
Well, I wasn't convinced...So, I checked out the internet...found out...It's an f-ing scam. They're not lying abt one thing though. Many ppl from ALL OVER the world received that letter - Australia, America, Canada...now Singapore. Actually, I tot it was kinda cool to be part of it. Heart-wrenching yes...but...like Liyana says "this kinda things can only happen to her" which is me. If anyone of u out there received this...let me noe on my tagboard alrite?(my tag's there...on the right side..u see it? there only...)
No more shopping sprees or watever...sigh...hahaha...The letter is kinda convincing though...well, with a few spelling errors...keke. The thing I found on the letter tat made it look totally cheapo was this picture of a globe of the world which is one of the Microsoft Word cliparts. LOL. I was looking at it and going.."Haven I seen tat globe b4? Oh yes..Mr. Chen(present geog teacher) used it b4 in one of his introductory lectures. Bah~"
Anyway, the scam works like this. The recipient of the letter is expected to fill up this form which they gave...they have to include info like their IC and their bank account no.(i can feel ppl raising their eyebrows). Yeah...how can u possibly give tat kinda info!? So, dumber ppl would...and then those ppl back at Spain would retrieve all the money and stuff. I dunno how....another way is tat..They would ask recipient to send abt 10% of their winnings to them b4 they can send the whole winning amt. Right..U send it...and nothing is given back to u..i'm sure. I pity those dumber ppl...Oh well, this blog of mine better serve as a WARNING to some of u ppl out there...
