SINGAPORE'S RETARDED

Ok...here's what I like about the Live Traffic Feed.

  1. I know which countries my readers come from.
  2. I know how they ended up on my blog (search engine or someone else's blog)
  3. AND I know what they typed on the search engine which led them to my blog

No. 3 is what I am usually interested in.

So far, the most common search that got them to my site is "Clorets Dak Secret Mint" ad. Second is things to do with the display bands. The rest are just random.

So the print screen above showed someone from Saint George, Utah, USA who searched SOMETHING from google and found my blog which somehow met the search terms. Why I circled this particular reader is becuz I found the search term he/she typed very peculiar.

(You need to click for a larger picture, then u can see the words...Lol)

Look at the bottom part. The reader was searching for links that has got something related to "SINGAPORE RETARDED" What the hell is that about!? I don't get it...is the reader doing some term essay that has got to do with retarded countries other than the USA? Seriously, if u have a blog, insert this Live Traffic Feed thingy and you see why I find looking at search terms very amusing...

!!FLASHBACK!!
MR PLUCK-YO-BROWS

Read this in one of my previous entries. Found this quite hilarious...

"You all know that you can never walk along Orchard Road without being stopped by annoying surveyors or donate-so-i-can-get-my-commission "charity volunteers". They're everywhere! They're suffocating! They're sooo common u can even smell them frm far! Take Orchard MRT for example...u noe they're there man...they're ALWAYS there...Liyana and I are becoming really gd at detecting them frm a distance...so gd tat its becoming our instinct. U have to learn to detect them first b4 they detect u. Its helpful when it comes to finding alternate routes to avoid them ya noe...(NOTE: Quick reaction upon detection of annoying irritants is important)

However, i dun tink many ppl were stopped on the streets by an outdoor eyebrow plucker rite? I dunno...maybe I'm wrong but it was definitely my first encounter wif one. So, last Wed, Zaima, Wani n I were walking along Scotts Rd when *poof!* a guy appeared out of god noes where and stopped us outside Tangs. Here was how the conversation or rather his speech went... (words in red are my tots or wat i was thinking at tat time)

Mr Plucker: Hello! Gd afternoon! [yeah...it was gd b4 u came by] I noticed u girls have messy eyebrows!! [woah!!! say louder lah! Let EVERYONE arnd us know!!]

I help ppl shape their eyebrows. I make very nice eyebrows. *takes out a newspaper article* See? Alot of ppl know already tat I can shape very nice eyebrows. They are all satisfied customers. [show off...]

All of u very pretty. All cantik...but ur eyebrows very messy. [see how he flatters n insults u at the same time? Amazing...]

For only $10, i can make ur eyebrows look nicer. But! U only pay after i'm done...after u'r satisfied. I am not joking. [Yeah..u better change ur tie or else ppl will take u as a joke. Its damn ugly] Ppl frm Indonesia come down here to ask me to do for them cuz they noe, i make sure nice one. You all malay rite?

US: Err...yah...

Mr Plucker: Ah..many malay girls also ask me to do for them. You all pretty but [messy eyebrows...yes...] *points at my eyebrows* Messy..*points at Zaima's eyebrows* Messy...*points at Wani's eyebrow n bends to look closer* Urs very messy...the top part messy *Wani just raised her eyebrows which totally cracked me up*

So how?! [So how wat? U've insulted our eyebrows infront of everyone along Scotts Rd and u want us to pay for ur service? I dun tink so ah...]

Us: Erm...nvmlah...thanks...

Stupid bugger...hopefully its my first n last encounter wif Mr Plucker Bugger...

Image hosted by Photobucket.com

Wani: I have the messiest eyebrow?!?! "

I wonder if Mr Pluck-Yo-Brows is still around along Orchard Rd...lol

Ok...i seriously have got no time to post long entries. Too busy studying for B2B now. Ok no...not really STUDYING...but more like just copying notes. It's like an "open notes" exam. But you can bring in only WRITTEN notes. WRITTEN notes on LECTURE slides CANNOT be brought in. Only written notes on PLAIN PAPER or Fulscap paper can be brought in. What kind of lame shit is that?!?!?! So, now everyone is FURIOUSLY copying down the entire textbook inclusive of a content page and appendix!! Kidding..

Here's a funny vid, for those who've never seen it...BULGARIAN IDOL. A woman singing "KEN LEEEEEEE!!!!" or "Without You" (for the rest of us) by Mariah Carey.

WHO R U LOS ANGELES PEEPS? TAG ON MY BOARD NOW AND INTRODUCE YOURSELVES!! OR BE BANNED. Kidding....so here's the video...

And...Here the Jabbawockez from America's Best Dance Crew...I love em especially when they danced to Apologize!! MUST WATCH!! *DAMN THIS VIDEO IS NO LONGER AVAILABLE*

Ok...back to copying notes...BLEAH~

YOU

THINK?

Promises from me are MEANT to be broken
especially when it has something to do with things i dislike such as EXAMS.

Since the start of this month, I have been trying to do nothing but memorising. Just like a bad internet connection due to a lousy modem, my memorising speed/rate is very inconsistent. Treat it like downloading information from a website, I'm trying to download information from my notes and the textbook into my brain. So like i said, how fast i "download" is very inconsistent.

At times, I download at a speed of 1Mbps ( I don't wanna say 10Mbps cuz I'm a very modest person...). This happens for "no-kick" chapters or those chapters I've read a million times.

Other times, I download information at a speed of 512kbps. This occurs for those more challenging chapters.

But MOST OFTEN, my download speed is dial-up connection. You know how your computer becomes super laggy when you try to open too many programs at one time. My download speed deteoriates when I try to do too much like for example...

1) I daydream too much.
2) I'm thinking of what to blog abt next.
3) I'm busy eating Honey Stars. I eat more than I memorise. I LOVE HONEY STARS LAH AND KOKO KRUNCH!

This Honey Stars heart was created with much love...

But at the end of they day or night, I manage to memorise whatever I intend to memorise. So happy already, call my bf, brag to him about how much I managed to memorise, den go to sleep.

The next day I will wake up and try to recall and it feels like my brain just went through Windows System Restore. Like everything I downloaded got deleted but eventually I manage to dig some previously downloaded info from the recycle bin, so I clicked "Restore" and TADA! It's back in my brain. Those LOST info, I have to retrieve from "back-up folder", and that's from my notes lor.

So how much am I trying to memorise?

THAT'S how much I have to memorise. Wah... my phone "damn good", so clear man...EH, wrong, I forgot to ZOOM OUT.

THAT is how much I have to memorise. Oh don't forget the fullscap paper has two sides!

I write my notes VERY small. Cuz remember we have to save the environment and save paper. So I took the initiative to write damn small to save space and ultimately save paper. This way, I also sacrifice my eyesight, worsen it further. Confirm I gotta change my glasses or just take lasik surgery lah! My mum pay mah...so no problem. At most, the doctor make mistake, I become blind. CHOI! TOUCH WOOD!! Oh btw, this is not all...

This are MORE notes I wrote into smaller A5(?) papers...And also got the OTHER SIDE...

And all this for only ONE freaking subject - altogether 11 chapters. NOW, I'm trying to memorise my Advanced Marcom which is about 13 chapters? Rossiter and Bellman, many many times I will say this, their textbook KILLS me. They write things like...

"For the benefit presentation itself, we recommend a set of tactics modified from the High-involvement/Informational and, where applicable, Transformational quadrant of the Rossiter-Percy-Bellman Grid" (HAH? HUH?)"

"If the target customer's major purchase motivation is transformation, overclaim, the key benefit and any other transformational benefits but, if informational, state the key benefit claim only at the upper limit of the target customer's estimated latitude of acceptance, even if you could objectively make a stronger truthful claim." (O.o layman term please...)

Hmm...actually after I typed all that down, it didn't seem so bad. I think I understand liao. Yay...
But just now, I read Chapter 12 on minimum effective frequency and immediately I thoughT...WOW!! Sibei chim... To hell with chapter 12, screw it!!

And for those who never read textbook, YES...they criticised the Gross Rating Points(GRP) thing and really called it GROSS lah....They criticised other things as well in a sarcastic manner. Don't believe me ?Let me quote the bloody thing below...I've EMPHASISED all the sarcastic remarks...

From Chapter 12, first page, "GRPs, TVRs, TARPs and Impacts are useless concepts and should be buried, NOW. We will now briefly explain the fallacy but not GRACE these terms by defining them for you. (....) "Gross" rating points in the bad sense of "gross" is an APT description. (...) The proper, alternative, clearly defined replacement term is EFFECTIVE REACH, which is based on EFFECTIVE FREQUENCY" --> well duh, of course theirs is the PROPER and CLEARLY DEFINED replacement. SHEESH...

Then from Chapter 14, page 314, "...for this reason of its "grossness", we do not recommend using GRPs..."

Lastly, I think the authors have this thing against anything american. But I have nothing against that...it's beyond what I should be caring about...

WAAAHHH....I damn free today seh...can write so looooong. So to my classmates, if u need some last minute revision, you can come visit my blog. I have to go back to memorising again. DANG...

THE SHREDDING MACHINE

I love this video I took when I was helping Fahira's mum clean up the office. Our job was simple, we were suppose to shred several pieces of documents. And there was this stack of, wat...topographical maps or something? And they were HUGE! So we had to tear them into almost A4 size so it can fit into the shredding machine. But there was just too many to tear first and then shred. So we thought....Let's just feed the WHOLE DAMN THING into the machine without tearing it into smaller pieces first. So we did!

Ladies and gentlemen, this is what I call a BLOODY good shredding machine...

PS: I miss you Fahira. You are the only person I can do stupid things with. Lol! Can't wait for you to be back here!

Get a load of PINK! Hahaha....Are you shocked?! I am...PINK!! WOW....

Anyway, today I woke up feeling super duper sleepy. Was sooo groggy that my foot somehow got weak and I lost my balance and knocked into the bedroom door. My mum was in the kitchen (like all mums should be unless they are working, or they have a maid, but sometimes they'll be in the kitchen to cook breakfast before heading for work...so anyway...), and my dad was in the bathroom so nobody in the family heard the loud bang. After I banged into the door and got up onto my feet I was still in a "wat the freak?" kinda mood.

So why was I super duper sleepy? I slept at 3am yesterday. No, I wasn't studying. I was playing Think Tank on instantaction.com. Super cute lah the tanks. Happily playing while the pages of my Direct Marketing texbook was wide open beside me and flippin' lazily to the breeze of my ceiling fan...I didn't really notice the time, but when I did I was like "HAH! 2:30am already! Ok lo..." *closed textbook, peed, brushed teeth, turned off the lights, slept*

I've kept myself locked in my room for sooo long. Doing nothing but read, copy, memorise....read, copy, memorise...read, copy, memorise...Basic studying procedure. It's becoming soo mechanical and has become mentally draining.

I don't know what's going on with the world outside. The only thing that stops me from studying is Ellen Degeneres, SPONGEBOB, sleep and FOOOOODDD. When my dad came home one day with indian Mee Hoon Goreng, IMMEDIATELY the smell overtook my senses and I was like "To HELL with Rossiter and Bellman stupid brand preference grid! I'm eating my mee hoon goreng!"

Once again, I HATE my marcom textbook lah. At first I was fine with it but after a while it started to irk me. I hate the way the authors criticise every single thing. They criticise to the point that it becomes an insult. Like they INSULTED the gross rating point system and said that "the GROSSNESS of it...blah blah blah". What the hell....They must be the type of people who are never satisfied with anything in life and always think they can do things better. Thank God I finish reading the blooody text.

Been staying at home for several days....nothing to blog about.

But before this...my list of possible search terms again...lol

" SYF 08, SYF '08, SYF 2008, Singapore Youth Festival, national stadium, display bands, display band, defending champion, best display band, best drum major, Joshua, GWH, Gold, Gold with honours, tanjong katong secondary school band, tk sec band, tkss, tkband, tk band, tanjong katong band, tanjong katong military band, spinning, marching, drum major, twirling, drills, chinese warriors, music, bowen band, bowen secondary school band, bowen military band, bmb, butts, shaking, dancing, drum majorette, sexy, deyi secondary school band, deyi military band, deyi band, dmb, colour guards, colourguards, flag bearers, flags, 12 April 2008, April 08, July '08, gimmicks, youtube "

Just for fun...Looking back, no wonder Deyi won. Their performance was beautiful to me. Plenty of !!!WOW!!! factors. So many unexpected gimmicks coming from them. I loved the surprise powder element during the phantom formation. Den suddenly "eh, how come got baby powder smell?". Their colourguards or flag party or watever CANNOT be beaten lah. They can be soo graceful at times and slick at other times. Sometimes I feel that it is the colourguards that gave the "wow" factor. I spent more time looking at the Dance Club girls than the band members. They were more mesmerising to me. And their Drum Major is forever damn zai lah...hahaha

Lol...oh but the pain in my heart is bloody hell still there...

Now we - the 1998-2006 batch - all know wat it's like to lose. My friend heard me say "God...the feeling sucks". And she told me, "well, this is wat other bands have been feeling for the past 10 years".

In a way, this is good for TK. Winning too much just makes you complacent. Losing the title will make TK Band buck up after realising...yes, losing is still a possibility even for a 5 time defending champion. To be honest, even we, ex-bandmembers started asking among ourselves...

"One win too many?"

"How long before we finally lose the title?"

"We will eventually lose one day right?"

"Which band will finally take the throphy from us?"

"Whoever it is...Boy...that band will be the happiest band alive to kick our ass from da throne"

We all wondered how we will react if we lose one day. We used to laugh and say things like "aiyah...lose nvm lah...we won too many times already...let's just give other bands a chance". We act cool about losing one day. Like it won't bother us. We all said we'll just laugh it out loud.

The actual day, 12 April 2008, it started with super heavy rain. From what I noe, for a long time, it hasn't rained during a band comp day. Immediately, i felt like something is wrong abt that day. Wahidah wondered whether she should come cuz she felt like this year would be the year for TK's downfall. She didn't wanna be there to witness the downfall if it happened cuz...jus cuz...

The Best Display Band of the year goes to..."Deyi Seco.............."

And true enough, we lost. We said it won't bother us. But it did. We used to say that we wanna let other bands get a taste of victory. But now, we felt like they've taken something so close to us and we need it back asap. Talking about losing is one thing, but actually losing is another.

Thanks to Fir from rawr-ified.blogspot.com for the TK drum major pic...

The vintage band in black. The Black Parade. Standing there rigid in sedia position. So obvious they were all crying but not of joy. My heart goes out to them cuz it's not fair they have to feel the pain. They came forward n played for their supporters fighting back tears. The school cheering them on, saying "TK Band! You are still the BEST!" It was bittersweet. Teachers, ex-teachers, school staffs, fellow students, ex-students, friends, family, principal, ex-principal, hugging the members and saying soothing words to try ease the pain. TK Spirit never dies...

Deyi just beside us playing to their supporters. Huggin, cheerin, smiles on their faces. Two different atmosphere side-by-side.

Strange that we felt the hurt even though we aren't the current band members. Will we ever outgrow this attachment to the band? Apart of me thinks..."I don't think so.." Probably 10 years down the road we'll still be coming back for the competitions.

One thing i hope is that, the TK Band alumni would provide all TK Band EX-members the band alumni T-shirt from 2010 onwards. Cuz are we not the band alumni as well? Are we two separate entities? We do come back to support. Is that not enough? It's not like we don't wanna come down to help, but they, the band ALUMNI, makes us feel inferior. I hope they will make it more comfortable for us to come down and help. I always feel like its THEM and US. The band management really need to think abt that. No more 'them' and 'us' please...

Again, congrats to Deyi! Again, fantastic colourguards! Again, awesome drum major!
Yes, now you know what it's like to win the Best Display Band award. Crying tears of joy. The feeling damn shiok.

I know.

We know.

That's how we felt 5 times in a row.

SONY SHOULD SUE CLORETS
Sony the ORIGINATOR. Clorets the IMITATOR.

Before i can say anything...look at the ads for Sony Cybershot and Clorets Dark Secret Mint (Singapore) below.

See the similarities?! Similar concept. Well obviously Sony did a better job than Clorets. No originality this Clorets ad agency. Pisses me off...I get pissed off easily nowadays!

Firstly, I just cant wait for exams to end lah. It's getting really dull...the textbooks so far are all f-ed up. I HATE HATE HATE chapter 8 of Advanced Marketing. It's sooo long and draggy....and UTTERLY DISGUSTING.

Second, comments on youtube are getting LAME. Not all...most. People trying to put down other people. It's just pathetic. But being in the outdoor band scene since 2000, I expected it. Things never change since 2000.

But, yesterday, haiyoh, all the alumni trying to hold back their tears. Cuz nobody wanted to cry infront of the main band. I saw Hafizah's brother cried like there was no tomorrow. I couldnt bear looking at him I look at the grass or my friends instead. We all wore a smile on our faces. But I could feel the pain. We all could feel the pain. When they announced DEYI best display band, I think immediately what was going thru our minds was flashbacks from 1998 outdoor to 2006. Then we saw non band members also crying. It made it harder for us to fight back our tears. But we still did..and what was the effect? A VERY BAD HEADACHE... pfft~

Anyway, I just wanna fast forward to 2009. Hahaha..cuz 2008 is starting to look like a freaking shitty year. And pls its not just because of band competition. Ex-classmate committing suicide...friendships torn apart...things bigger than band...So 2008 - YOU OFFICIALLY STINK

R.I.P
Celine Ang Siew Peng
(1986-2008)

Haiz...poor girl, an ex-classmate of mine back in TK Sec 4E 2002. I may not be very close with her, but I remember her as an extremely cheerful and sweet gal. She died of panadol overdose in a hotel on wednesday but her body was only discovered on thursday. I found out about the news only today and it came as quite a shock for me. When Charmiane stated her name, immediately an image of Celine smiling with our classmates came into my mind...

What happened, what made her do it, I still do not know. To all who knew her, I wish you forgive all the mistakes she has done in the past and remember her as the warm and sincere girl that she was...RIP Celine...

NATIONAL STADIUM

Our cries and woos we're answered ya'll!! The Display Band Comp this year will be held at the one and only National Stadium bebeh! That is the only place where it belongs. If you can hold the Singapore match at the National Stadium in July, there is no good reason why you shouldn't hold the Display Band competition.

Haiz...so happy! The stadium brings so much memories to most of us. The feeling is different and just nostalgic. I think the National Stadium will have a special place in the hearts of all those who were involved in the display band competition since the 1960s.

But...I'm just excited to see the new one..which will be ready in what? 2011. After Youth Olympics. Lol...Singapore's retarded. Bid but never think of consequences of hosting an olympic without proper venues. Embarassment....oh well...

By the way, here's a vid clip I did to reflect TK Band's victories over the past 10 years. Enjoy!

My precious....

Half and hour was all it took before all the tickets were gone. That's freaking fast! I knew it was gonna be all gone before noon but i didnt noe it will take just 30 freaking mins!! By the looks of it (see photo above), I have em tickets...four of them like everybody else. Other than Charmiane and I, we didn't see any TK Band members except Mr Steven Sim, Anabelle and Amanda (long time no see those twins). Oh, we also saw the TK OM and the malay man from the D&T department. Well ok fine, so we did see some TK ppl. Pfft~ But there were plenty of Deyi peeps. How I noe they were Deyi peeps? Becuz we saw the infamous shahari from listed-havoc.blogspot.com with those bunch of ppl. I'm still perplexed with regards to his/her gender. Can anyone clarify pls? So anyway, Shahari has been made infamous by the TK ppl due to her comments regarding TK Band in 2006 competition. I didn't take it personally, she must be upset when she said all that but it doesnt mean she didnt mean wat she said. But heck, it's someone's opinions and we should just respect it. Though I have to point out that the bell tower and stuff...we didn't buy. Was kindly made by the D&T staff. But i have to agree that TK Band is becoming more and more theatrical. Next thing you know, they'll be performing in Esplanade as a musical.

Right now, still looking around for people with extra tickets to give to Sharon, Asraf, Faisal and Wenqi. Haiz...they came too late and Asraf couldn't make it before noon. Why Hwa Chong?! If they could have the Singapore vs Lebanon match in the National Stadium, why not the display band competition? What? They gonna BOMB the stadium on 11th April is it?! Becuz of mindless things like this, we have to succumb to using a pathetic stadium(no offence to Hwa Chong. This judgement is based on comparisons with the mighty National Stadium. Your stadium is definitely better when compared to other sec schs out there) with limited seating capacity.

( Intermission: I will resume with my post shortly)--> Phone call lah...

Ok, back..just got a call from a friend of mine. He said, a friend of his from PingYi told him that they might be switching the venue to the National Stadium. Cuz they judges aren't happy with the venue and everything. Like, it does not provide a good view for them to assess the bands. Everything will be finalised tomorrow. Ok, I'm happy...it's like my prayers were answered. BUT...They made me wake up damn early just now to queue for those bloody tickets for nothing? I'm having mixed feelings lah, like pissed that they didn't think of this sooner and now they have to make complex adjustments to everything and wasted ink printing those tickets. On the other hand, I'm happy, cuz NATIONAL STADIUM IS THE BESTEST! Woohoo!! PLEASE PLEASE PLEASE LET IT BE AT THE NATIONAL STADIUM. The feeling is just perfect there lah...anyone would understand... =)

P.S: Sharon just told me that there will be a soccer match at the National Stadium in June. Yeah bebeh...no reason not to have it at the beloved stadium.

So yes, today marks the end of school minus the upcoming exams. No more lessons!! It's bittersweet really...Btw, I'm the second girl on the left, top row. Lol...I'm always the ghost mah. My hair and all..hahaha! The above photo has been edited courtesy of Bing Zhen...beezee. We had various themes for each photo. The one above is well, The Haunt and The Haunted. While we were thinking of other themes, Meishan suggested "Let's imagine we all got the HIGHEST HIGHEST distinction (for our exams)" And i argued, "Er..I think that's something only you can imagine" Sorry meishan, but it's true...hahahahaha

Before I forget!! We celebrated Suting's birthday today!!! Though it's actually next week. Haha..no choice. Last day of school. Got her a chocolate cake and a Guess wallet. AND a board with pictures of her as well as messages from all of us. Hope she likes it!! And Bing Zhen made chocolate-coated strawberries for the whole class! It was damn nice man...I loved it! Craving for more now, don't think I can sleep...

Before this last photo-taking session, we had our last lesson for the year...forever (unless I take my masters; like am i for real?)...and its our Product Innovation Management module. As usual, our lecturer kept asking us questions which few of us could answer. Sometimes, we tot we were right and we answered with great confidence and she answers you with "weeeell...good..try". Hate when that happens. HATE HATE HATE. But I glad she knows my name. It's amazing she knows my name actually. Dunno why...but when she called me just now, I took about 2 secs to response. The 2 sec delay cuz I was impressed.

See? That's her asking us, "What kinds of economic problems do companies face?" Wait...I can't help but mention that's Meishan in the foreground digging into her pencil case. She's not naked, she wore a tube dress and she wore it wrongly. The sides of her dress were on the front and back instead. So she had to twist her dress 90 degrees to set it right. And look at the time on the clock! It's 2:45pm, half an hour to break! Whee! Today, break means eat my fried fish mushroom noodle. Was soo hungry...We all sacrificed lunchtime to make Suting's special board...khekhekhe....

Oh so anyway, she asked that question, "What kinds of economic problems do companies face?" We all gave macroeconomic problems like unemployment lah....inflation lah...But of course they're all wrong. The answer is..."What to produce? How to produce? And for whom to produce?" *DOTS* What a self-centred view of looking at a problem...nevertheless, she didn't specify that it was a microeconomic issue. Oh wells...

So yah...the end of my school life is today. I just have exams to prepare for in late April, 23rd April to be exact. We're planning to go East Coast Park to cycle and blade next tuesday. So, we'll still meet each other before the exams. Aah! I just cannot believe this is happening! I don't wanna enter working world! Shit...working class-withdrawal-syndrome. My own lame term...if u got a better term lemme know...
